Squire, as thou doth study, an event is mentioned over and over again.... The Starless Night, otherwise known as The End of the Dragons.

But what was this dark age?

Thou hath found a tome and in it there is a passage of great interest. It is a recording of the parting words of the Dragon Knight El-Endris to his ancient dragon Gallum. Read, Squire, and learn of thine past!

"How does one say goodbye to the stars? How does one let go of a piece of eternity, knowing it will never return? Gallum, my friend, my teacher, my heart—how do I stand here and find the words to honor all that you are, all that you have been?"

"You have carried the weight of ages, borne the burdens of wisdom no mortal could hold, and shared your light with a world that could never repay you. In your shadow, I found strength. In your voice, I found truth. And now, in your leaving, I find only silence."

"I hear the echo of all you have taught me. I know it should not be bitter, but why do I weep, friend? You were always the strong one...

"Never did I think that you would pass before I."

"Fly now, Gallum. Fly beyond the clouds and the winds, beyond the reach of mortal hands and mortal grief. Go to the place where the stars are born, where time folds itself into rest, where the endless skies welcome their own. Go where I cannot follow."

"General of Dragons. Strength of the Strengthless. Friend of the Friendless... go now"

"Every flight, every lesson, every moment... they are my treasures."

"Goodbye, my friend. Goodbye, my heart."

But, Squire, El-Endris wept not only for the passing of his dear friend and dragon... he wept for the end of peace.

For with Gallum's passing came The Starless Night.
