• We cut and attached a piece of 2” x 6” to our galvanized steel wall framing (watch episode 4 for how we installed our wall framing)
• We stained the piece of 2” x 6” piece of wood with Varathane Oil-Based Exterior Spar Urethane which we purchased from Home Depot.
• After drilling 3 holes in the wood, we used red nail polish to mark the holes where we wanted to put the support beams.
• We drilled the holes in the wall with a high speed steel step drill.
• we used a Rivet kit made by RexBeti that we purchased off Amazon (this came with the tool and multiple sizes of rivet nuts)
REXBETI 14" Rivet Nut Tool, Professional Rivet Setter Kit with 7 Metric & Sae Mandrels and 60pcs Rivnuts, Labor-Saving Design, Extra 1/4-20 mandrel with Rugged Carrying Case
• We used 3/8 and 5/16 washers and he. Bolts to secure the 2” x 6” piece of wood.
BED PLATFORM SUPPORT BEAMS:
• We purchased our silver telescopic support beams from IKEA (quantity 3)
**NOTE: the beams DO NOT come with the brackets, however if you go to the parts department in the store the will be happy to provide you with them for FREE!
• We evenly separated our brackets, pre-drilled holes, and screwed them in using bolts, washers, and lock nuts.
PLYWOOD MATTRESS HOLDER:
• We used a piece of 1/2 inch plywood and cut it go our desired size.
• We drilled six 2” holes in each piece to make it easier for the mattress to release air if needed.
• We also stained the plywood with Varathane which is linked above.
