Jake Doolittle, Never Stop & Grassroots Organizations

Commentary/ drama creator Jake Doolittle seems to have gotten himself into a bit of a bind in last month or so: he posted a rage-induced video that threatened to “name names” of other popular commentary channels that dared to refuse to either work with him or donate to his small nonprofit, Never Stop. In many ways, his continued inability to offer any sort of compassion to those who displease him for one arbitrary reason or another, was reflected in a previous drama cycle he caused last year by critiquing (?) Ethan Klein of the H3 Podcast over the way he discussed concerns about his health and accused him of “faking Lupus” for donations.

Given that this is yet another typical example of the egotism of a "scorned" YouTuber, the only thing that struck my interest was the reference to the Never Stop fund as a “grassroots” organization or operation. Because this term has a very specific meaning and intent, I wanted to discuss the misconceptions surrounding it, and the importance of making distinctions between philanthropy, charity and grassroots where they are not intersecting with one another.
