Agora Gallery is pleased to announce The Dance of Life, a multimedia installation featuring paintings and sculptures by Iranian artist Sahar Khalkhalian. Enjoy a sneak peek into the exhibition.The show explores themes of identity loss, memory, and displacement, as experienced by Khalkhalian following the Iran-Iraq War and her family’s subsequent move to Germany.
While the plight of immigration is portrayed in all its raw brutality, feelings of hope emerge, as the immigrants face the prospect of a new life. Accompanying the display are video projections animating three of Khalkhalian’s works: The Gamble of Destiny, The Stoned Faced Soldiers, and Innocence. The projected images create an immersive experience through a dance of light and shadow, intensifying the emotions expressed by the pieces. Khalkhalian takes us on a voyage, through calm and stormy waters; a voyage fraught with perils, but one that can bring some happiness in the end.
