Beat in time with the directed actions to the music. This is in 6/8 time which means 6 quavers in every bar. The 6 means how many and the 8 means quaver time. So 12/8 would mean 12 quavers in every bar.

Rhythmically speaking you are working in the world of quavers when in 6/8! So when you come across the dotted crotchet, this is one long sound of three quavers added together. Shorter rhythms become semiquavers here and can look odd when not paired up. Try writing out the rhythms with their brackets to group sounds together.

Definitely more suitable for Upper KS2 onwards in terms of understanding the theory! Also makes a great maths session too!
