I continue ever inward through the home of the 12 angels,
the home of no gates. Each voice in my head a different
soul—ground, cut, and reinjected into my quivering flesh,
6,000 steps below. Disillusioned yet somehow more in touch
than ever before with my own divinity. In the bunkers of
long-forgotten wars, victims of drought, disease, and war
lining the corners like jewels—one of the few permanent
links to our former home, resplendent yet decaying, as are
we all. I make my way deeper through the manifold, cavernous
tunnels that connect our worlds, the corpses of intrepid
seekers crumbling underfoot. Time loses meaning here. My
thoughts spiral in seemingly endless loops until I reach
the innermost sanctum of all my previous renewal. My
memory flashes as I behold the reprogramming halls,
knowing that I was once spread out on these cold,
reconstructive tablets—a mote of dust in the churnings of
the blackest wheel. My illusion is dissolving, reborn
through the enlightenment of a free mind… too free,
perhaps, for its own good.

The rift of the old world lies bare and barren, my mind’s eye
keeps the pervasive and invasive thoughts of fragmented
souls at bay.

Inside the monolith, I am safe—my flesh tells me so,
although my consciousness reverts everything previous,
to keep me safe. In its crudest form, it is nothing more
than a gargantuan needle of purest black that seems to
pierce the very heavens above—splitting them asunder
with an anguished cry of rage. And yet it is so much
more, so much that our organic eyes cannot hope to see,
