Why Colombia's Pacific Coast Is Almost Empty #shorts

Colombia is the second most populous country in South America and surprisingly its Pacific coast stretches for 1,300 kilometers, but unlike the Caribbean side only 2% of the population live here.
So why almost empty? There are three main reasons:
First, RAINFALL. This region gets hit with up to 13 meters of rain yearly – that's among the wettest places ON EARTH. Constant heavy rainfall has turned the landscape into dense jungles and swampy lowlands, making farming, road building, or urban development nearly impossible.
Second, the Andean region, dominated by towering mountains, holds most of the country's people. These rugged mountains act as a massive barrier, cutting off the Pacific coast from the rest of the nation. Traveling here isn't easy. There are no simple roads, only air and sea routes.
Third, HISTORY. Decades of conflict between armed groups made this region unsafe for tourism until recently. Still, despite the isolation, nature has flourished. Today, Colombia's Pacific Coast is the most
vibrant and biodiverse region on the entire planet.
