We researched the biographies and interviews of the following bassists in search of their influences: Geddy Lee, Tom Araya, Robert Trujillo, Geezer Butler, Billy Sheehan, Jack Bruce, John Entwistle, Paul McCartney, John Paul Jones, Steve Harris, Cliff Burton, Les Claypool, Flea, John Deacon, John Myung, Chris Squire, Chris Wolstenholme, Nick Oliveri, Mark Stoermer, Matt Freeman, Juan Alderete, Tim Commerford, Shavo Odadjian, Duff McKagan, Lemmy Kilmister, Rex Brown, Tony Levin, Sting, Mike Watt, Bill Wyman, Leland Sklar, Nikki Sixx, John McVie, Gene Simmons, Michael Anthony and Roger Glover.

•Value "A" - For each influencer mentioned we attribute 1 point; with this, we form an initial ranking.
• Value "B" - If the influencing musician is below the influenced one, the fixed value of 3 points multiplied by the number of occurrences is assigned to him.
• Value "C" - With the final ranking in place, the result of the vote "The Best Rock Bassists of All Time" available on the website ranker.com is used, where more than 44 thousand people voted for their favorite bassists. With this, a score can also be assigned based on public perception. The values applied do not have a great impact on the original score, but they help to better define the positions, even serving to resolve ties. To do this, we used the following scoring criteria that was added to the ranking:
From 1st to 5th place: 2 points
From 6th to 10th place: 1.5 points
From 11th to 15th place: 1 point
From 16th to 30th place: 0.5 points

It may seem a little complicated, but here's the calculation:
John Entwistle - A12 + C2 = 14 / Paul McCartney - A11 + C1 = 12 / John Paul Jones - A9 + C2 = 11 / Jack Bruce - A9 + C1 = 10 / Geezer Butler - A8 + C1,5 = 9,5 / Chris Squire - A5 + B + C=1 = 9 / Geddy Lee - A7 + C2 = 9 / Bill Wyman - A2 + (Bx2)= 8 / Phil Lynott - A2 + B + C=0,5 = 5,5 / Roger Glover - A2 + B = 5 / Glenn Cornick - A2 + B = 5 / Steve Harris - A3 + C1,5 = 4,5 / Greg Lake - A1 + B = 4 / Mike Rutherford - A1 + B = 4 / Pete Way - A1 + B = 4 / Lemmy Kilmister - A2 + C1,5 = 3,5 / Les Claypool - A1 + C2 = 3 / Cliff Burton - A1 + C1,5 = 2,5 / Jack Casady = C2 / Flea = C2

All bassists who were cited as an influence in our survey, but who did not reach the score necessary to appear in the top 20, were defined as HONORABLE MENTION.

All bassists who were widely cited as an influence but who are not commonly classified as ROCK bassists were defined as MASTERS OF MASTERS.
