COMMENT YOUR FAVORITE FATS WALLER TUNE
"Honeysuckle Rose" by Fats Waller displays his mastery of the jazz piano style called "Stride piano". Getting it's name from the leaping left hand technique, Fats and his contemporaries like James P. Johnson and Art Tatum would take ragtime piano techniques and amplify their speed, virtousity, and creativity!
Fats was sometimes overlooked by serious jazz musicians because Fats happily incorporated humor into his act. Don't be distracted by the jokes and silly faces, Fats was one of the best players the instrument has ever seen!!
