Paco Osuna’s record label Mindshake presents a percussive tech house EP by Jamie Coins, which also features remixes by Reelow and Crewcutz.
Living in Spain, Jamie Coins is making his Mindshake debut following music on other respected record labels ranging from VIVa LIMITED to Toolroom. He is known for his upbeat style, which is influenced by the two-step rhythms of UK Garage, and has undertones of funk.
On remix duty, Reelow is an accomplished producer who has previously featured his stripped-back and chunky grooves on Mindshake, plus other prestigious imprints including Desolat, Moan, Kaluki Musik, elrow Music and Solid Grooves.
Second of the remixes comes from Brazilian duo Crewcutz who are returning to Mindshake with a remix in the groove-laden style they have featured on other record labels such as Nervous Records, Deeperfect and Clarisse.
“Pompy” opens the release with heavy breakbeat percussion and retro hip hop vocals underpinned by the raw funk of the bassline. “Representz” has jazzy undertones with tinkling piano chords and jackin’ vocals that add uplifting energy to the track’s feel-good vibe.
Reelow’s remix of “Pompy” switches to a 4/4 groove and works in a new bassline that lifts the intensity. Crewcutz also remix “Pompy,” and they work in some of their trademark shuffling percussion alongside a rolling bassline.
