After an enforced 9 month pregnancy, a mother cow will have her baby stolen from her within hours of giving birth so the farmer can maximise profits from the sale of the milk created by the mother for her baby - to YOU.

The maternal bond is very strong and the mother and her baby pine for each other. Those left alive can be heard calling out for up to 2 weeks before they sadly and reluctantly give up.

The males are often killed as they cannot produce milk and are of no use to the industry. Some may go to the veal industry where they can be confined for weeks or months in pens in which they can barely move so that their flesh remains "Tender".

The females will usually be kept in solitary pens until they are ready to be forcibly impregnated for the first time themselves.

This cycle is repeated 4 or 5 times until the mother becomes exhausted and either her body gives way or her milk yield drops below that of younger females. She is then brutally killed and her body sold to the meat and/or pet food industries.
