Hall's journey into fatherhood was unexpected, as he had previously been told by a doctor that having children might not be physically possible for him. However, in September 1999, he and then-partner Cheryl Bonacci welcomed Cheron into the world. Following the end of his relationship with Bonacci, Hall took on the role of a single father, a decision that profoundly impacted his career choices. He was determined to be present for all of Cheron's milestones, stating, "I didn't want to miss a thing". This commitment stemmed partly from his own childhood experiences, where his father was often absent due to work, and his mother worked multiple jobs, leading to a somewhat lonely upbringing. Hall leveraged his success in entertainment to become a stay-at-home dad, focusing his time and energy on parenting. He found immense joy in this role, telling Oprah Winfrey in 2013, "I really fell in love with fatherhood. So I didn't care about show business at that point".
