Quality security cameras can be expensive however as the saying goes you get what you pay for. In this video we test the inexpensive ANPVIZ camera that claims to support ONVIF integration with third party recorders. We tested them with one of our professional 4 channel NVRs and found mixed results. While the cameras did provide easy plug and play compatibility with our NVRs, the ONVIF implementation on the cameras is limited to just video and audio streaming back to the NVR. The cameras do not accept commands from the NVR for important settings such as encoding settings, audio control, or motion detection. Managing a PoE system with such lack luster integration on part of the camera is less than desirable and is a major PIA when trying to configure settings. While the picture was satisfactory, the audio was very digitized, and motion detection was not accurate. The camera would not accept commands to control motion detection in specific regions. Also the cameras have an unauthenticated RTSP stream which is a security and privacy risk, which is especially precarious since these cameras require configuration by being on a network. We invite you to watch the video for yourself. If you're looking for a basic camera to record all time, or with poorly defined motion, these cameras would be ok we guess. There are certainly better cameras that can be had for a little more. If you're looking for higher quality security cameras or poe cameras, please visit our security camera category page:
