Opposition Leader Peter Dutton will release the Coalition's long-awaited defence policy in Perth on Wednesday, which will see military spending lifted to 2.5 per cent of GDP by 2030, and 3 per cent of GDP within the decade.
These targets align more closely with the expectations of the Trump administration and represent a significant increase compared to Labor’s current defence spending, which sits just above 2 per cent of GDP.
Details of the policy are also expected to include new drones, missiles, and a boost to AUKUS infrastructure in Western Australia.
