"Gun Crazy" stands out for its long takes, guerrilla-style filmmaking, and free-wheeling direction by Joseph Lewis. It is unlike any other film to come out of Hollywood's studio era.
The film's use of sexual tension and eroticism between the two leads is groundbreaking and Dall and Cummins have an intense on-screen chemistry that heightens the film's sense of danger and excitement.
"Gun Crazy" has had a significant and lasting impact on the crime and heist genres in cinema and the french new wave. Its themes of love, lust, and violence have been explored in numerous films since its release, including the influential 1967 movie "Bonnie and Clyde."
I have another video planned about the groundbreaking three-and-a-half-minute bank heist scene but I didn't want to give that scene away in this video. If you haven't seen GUN CRAZY the robbery deserves to be experienced in its entirety. Spoiler free.
