Album: Walk Alone | Official Website: Listen & Download: & | Lyrics:
Let the moonlight carry me
O'er the rivers through the trees
Into my lover's waitin' arms
Curse my ramblin' heart
For keepin' us apart
I've only memories
To keep me warm
Beatin' on these jailhouse bars
Starin' at the midnight stars
Slowly wearin' 'way at the seams

If this is the price I pay
I'll sleep in this bed I've made
And live what could have been
In my dreams
On a killin' floor in Omaha
Got word of a job out West
They picked me up
Three weeks ago
I guess you know the rest

Never meant it to go that far
You know I'm a peaceful man
Everyone has a breakin' point
I found mine in Cheyenne
Beatin' on these jailhouse bars
Starin' at the midnight stars
Slowly wearin' 'way at the seams
If this is the price I pay
I'll sleep in this bed I've made

And live what could have been
In my dreams
Never been good at goodbyes
So I'll just tell it to ya quick
Don't wait for me honey
I ain't gettin' out of this fix
It brings me a smile
That for a short while
I was able to walk the line
May each vision you see

When you look back at me
Slip free from
The cruel hands of time
Each night I am graced
With maidens of lace
And feasts that are fit
For a king
Then I open my eyes
As the sun starts to rise

And the dove on my sill
Warms its wings
Beatin' on these jailhouse bars
Starin' at the midnight stars
Slowly wearin' 'way at the seams

If this is the price I pay
I'll sleep in this bed I've made
And live what could have been
In my dreams

Though born in San Francisco, Nashville singer-songwriter Josh Gray grew up thousands of miles away in Maryland. He got his first guitar at age 16 but didn’t play his first live show until 15 years later. When asked what took so long, he simply says, “I wasn’t ready.”

This theme of taking the time to get things right becomes apparent when you hear his music. His thoughtful and often poetic lyrics stick with you long after the songs end. Josh Gray’s sound is a mixture of the folk, blues, country, and rock that first inspired him to pick up a guitar. He’s a storyteller, protest singer, and poet, bridging both generations and genres to form his signature style of songwriting.

2015 saw Josh Gray release his self-titled debut EP recorded in Frederick, MD. Just one block from the coffee shop where a friend first dared him to play. That year Josh Gray put nearly 30,000 miles on his car traveling all over MD, PA, WV, and VA. Sometimes seven nights a week, playing shows and open mics.

In 2022 Josh Gray ran another successful crowdfunding campaign to record his newest album “Walk Alone.” This time he has partnered with CRS in the Netherlands to distribute into record stores all over Europe. Upon its 2023 release, “Walk Alone” reached #8 on the Euro Americana charts and #1 on the Dutch Americana & Roots Top13 chart. The album is critically acclaimed worldwide and praised by radio DJs who are playing it weekly from New Zealand to Norway.
