Just by taking a look at a map of Iran, you can see its geography is awful. It’s rugged and mountainous, it's arid, it’s often either extremely cold or hot, and it’s mostly desert. Despite this 88M people live there, and while you might be thinking that something like 90% of the population lives up in the northern green area, it’s actually only more like 9%. So, why do so many people live in what seems like such an unwelcoming place?
