In 1960, Iran was beginning to experience significant changes under the rule of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi. Benefiting from increasing oil revenues and support from Western allies, particularly the United States and Britain, the Shah was laying the groundwork for future reforms aimed at modernising the country. Although the major White Revolution reforms had not yet been introduced, tensions were growing between traditional social structures and the pressures of modernisation.

ITN’s reporter Tim Brinton explores this juxtaposition in three Roving Reports, which include an interview with the Shah and Empress of Iran.
