We're BACK in Argentina! 👷🇦🇷 HOTEL & HOME RENOVATION UPDATE + What Happened While We Were Away?! 🤔
🌄 Sierras Property Update & Aerial Drone Tour
Join us as we return to our mountain retreat in Córdoba to tackle more clearing, enjoy classic Argentine flavours, and reveal the impressive progress made while we were away. Here’s what happens, in order:
Sierras Serenity
We open with tranquil shots of the lush Sierras surrounding us—greenery in every direction and total peace.
Wild Blackberry (Salsa) Clearing
Sections once overgrown with 3–5 m of wild blackberry are now fully cleared, with tidy piles of trunks, branches and foliage.
Wind Storm Aftermath
Recent gusts snapped older trees, adding extra debris to our clearing list.
Milanesa Treat
Mid-clearing, we head out for milanesas a la napolitana—classic Argentine schnitzel with tomato sauce and mozzarella.
Spider Surprise
A giant spider under a bench cushion gives us an unexpected fright—cheers to our trusty flashlights!
Canadian Expat Re-Introduction
We traded Canada’s Rockies for Argentina’s Sierras, renting a “little home in paradise” while renovating our family property.
Last Season’s Wins
Our first visit saw DIY clearing and hiring a talented local, Marcos, who laid the groundwork for our extended stay.
Today’s Mission & Plan
We sip coffee now that power is restored, then walk on foot to the hotel building, one of several on the estate, to show you the day’s agenda.
Aerial Drone Overview
Sam pilots our drone for sweeping views: the L-shaped hotel wing, main house, and creek boundary—though some neighbouring properties sneak in!
Front Driveway Transformation
Once choked by salsa and stray trees, our entrance drive is now clear. Marcos processed wood chippings and sorted piles for fencing.
Rear Access Revealed
A hidden back drive reappears after cutting dense shrubs—now you can actually drive around the hotel again.
Future Green Garden Vision
With invasive growth removed, we’ll replant grass and shade trees, restoring the open, airy feel our family estate once had.
Trusting Local Expertise
While away, we paid Marcos for precise clearing work. WhatsApp updates kept us in the loop, and he exceeded expectations.
Summer’s Early Heat & Battery Warnings
Spring highs hit mid-30 °C—our batteries dwindled in the midday sun, so we retreat for lunch.
Chalet Clearing Preview
The oldest house’s bush-free yard remains neat. Soon we’ll cut trees around its roofline—roof replacement research is underway!
Granny’s House Garden
Concrete steps and garden beds near Granny’s house were completely overgrown; Audrey cleared the stairwell while Sam reclaimed surrounding plots.
Contractor Round-Up
We met electricians and plumbers via word-of-mouth referrals—no Google here! Suppliers are booked months out, so planning ahead is crucial.
Leisurely Argentine Lunch
Back home for milanesas and a crisp cucumber-tomato salad—fuel for more renovation hustle.
Patagonia Tour Last Call
Nov 21 is your final chance to join our Trova Trip Patagonia adventure! Details and payment plan links are pinned below.
Coming Soon
We’ll venture into Sierras hiking (Audrey’s new trekking poles!), explore Córdoba’s towns & wineries, and dive into Chalet tours:
