Self-proclaimed 5th Beatle... Born in 1922, Murray Kaufmann is better known as Murray the K. He was a popular New York DJ and concert promoter and one of the first DJs to heavily promoted the Beatles music.
When the Beatles arrived in America in 1964 for their first full-blown American tour, Murray the K was already known to them. He accompanied the Mop Tops on the tour and transmitted his radio show live from the Beatles’ hotel suite.
He even proclaimed himself – “the 5th Beatle”.
