Diavol Strâin
Duo Riot Wave from the Valparaíso region - Chile, composed and formed in 2015 by Ignacia Strâin (Guitar, Synth, Digital Drums and Choirs) and Lau M (Bass, Voice, Synth and Digital Drums). Their sound is defined as a mix between classic 80's Dark Wave, Post Punk and Riot Grrrl.

to date they have two published studio works, “Demonio” (EP 2016) co-produced by Jurel Sónico from HISS Records and “Todo el Caos Habita Aqui” (LP 2018) co-produced by Marcelo Morales at Estudio Almendral. The first was released by BatCave Records (Poland) in an exclusive version for Europe in CD format; the latter was released on both vinyl and CD by the Young & Cold Records label (Ausburg, Germany) to which they currently belong, and on Cassette through the independent label “Replicante Cintas” (Chile).

Diavol Strain's new LP is presented as a thematic album that narrates and wanders between experiences that arise from two leitmotifs: oblivion and horror, hence the album is built in two volumes. In the beginning it was only thought from the side of forgetfulness and depressive anguish caused by the superfluous passage of time in a world that constantly forgets. However, the sociopolitical, economic and cultural crisis that broke out in October 2019 in Chile, twists the pre-conceived imaginary towards a reality full of blood, death and torture. This is how Elegía del Olvido // Elegía del Horror was born, an album composed of 12 tracks that reveal and expel pain, abandonment or rejection as a cathartic process while invoking the fire and the strength of the oppressed beings of society . On a musical level, this work reflects a more defined sound of the style proposed by Diavol Strain. As for the percussion, the rhythmic lines acquire a greater prominence in most of the songs, moving away from the more minimal style proposed in “Demonio”. For its part, the characteristic melodic lines of DS - in which the bass, guitar and synth dialogue - are further stressed while the voices lead, sometimes screams and laments, to other harmonic and danceable melodies.
