She was selling street food and was offering anyone free soups. Without any additional purchase. So he went to check it out but after getting the soup, he immediately asked for more for free. Corn on the cobs this time.
The man showed her the pictures he drew of other people and asked her if she could give him some corns in exchange for one portrait. She agreed.
But you see, she has a lot of personal problems. Her son has lukemia, she's deep in debt, about a million and her older son also has some problems. He has very low IQ due to brain damage. It's a hard life she's living. She's borrowed from everyone she could borrow from and her husband works long hours as delivery drivers.
Despite so much hardships, she still offer soups for free everyday to people who need it. An old man frequents her shop. He doesn't even have enough money to buy water. And when he's done but still hungry, she would give him another bowl.
Seeing how kind she was the man was even more convinced that he should help her. He gave her the painting and paid for the meals he had eaten but instead of $5, he paid $50k instead.
