Considered a terrorist organisation by Turkey, the EU and the United States, the PKK has been waging an insurgency within Turkey for decades. The roots of the conflict stretch back to the aftermath of World War I and the Treaty of Sèvres. Over time, despite a shift in the PKK's demands from independence to regional self-rule, deep mistrust and failed peace talks have kept the war alive. While both sides have seen periods of dialogue, the conflict is further complicated by regional dynamics, especially the rise of Kurdish forces in Syria. The video examines whether a resolution is possible, considering the hardened positions and the continued violence between the two sides.
