On 13 February 1955 Buddy and Bob opened for Elvis in Lubbock, at the Fair Park Coliseum.
That was Buddy Holley and Bob Montgomery. On their business card they described their music as "western and bop".
At that time Buddy spelt his surname with an "e". The "e" was dropped when he signed his first record deal, with Decca. They mis-spelt Buddy's surname as "Holly". He liked the new spelling and from then on, he called himself "Buddy Holly".
