On 13 August 1983, ITN spoke to Astronomer Heather Couper, as they broadcast the first televised pictures of the Perseid meteor shower taken at the Royal Greenwich Observatory in Sussex. Couper described what members of the public could expect to see as fragments and dust particles from the Swift-Tuttle comet entered earth's atmosphere.
