We do not claim copyrights to this song100 MPH is the third song on Mazarati’s first album Mazarati, and, three months after the album’s release, 100 MPH was released as the album’s second single. The track was written and largely performed by Prince.
Basic tracking place in late June 1984 at Flying Cloud Drive Warehouse in Eden Prairie, Minnesota. Although unconfirmed, it is likely Prince recorded it with Mazarati already in mind. possibly as a replacement for the song Susannah’s Pajamas, which had been intended for Mazarati under its former name Mazarati, before Prince decided it suited The Family instead, or as an extra track for them to consider.
It is likely that the initial tracking was only the basic instrumentation, and more was added in a follow-up session, before Sir Casey Terry’s vocals were dubbed on in April 1985.
In 2019, Prince’s own version was released as the sixth track on the posthumous album Originals.
