My Thoughts on the Intruder that Entered My Home

I know you guys think I should probably move, because this is the second assault on our home… but this was a couple years ago. A white shirtless man walked into my home. He seemed to be 'not all there' and possibly on drugs. Given that my wife, mother-in-law, and children were home, I had every legal right to protect them. By law, there was no way he should have made it out of my house alive, but he did.

I don't know whether he was lost or had bad intentions. It makes me wonder how the consequences of legally protecting myself and my family would have played out if I had exercised my right to the highest level of self-defense. Would I be in jail? Would I be considered a murderer or racist? How would the media portray me? Would I be seen as a hero or a villain?

These are the things I'm considering as I try to come to terms with the common injustice that #ralphyarl and his family are currently facing.
