
Before we can even start to repair the damage caused, we potentially have months of labour intensive clearing to do.
Most of the trouble seems to have come from the use of cement on the shaded side of a limestone house to make a concrete chimney. Now the chimney is dis-used it never dries.
Taking down a 6 meter tall chimney with SDS drills and hand tools is ridiculously hard. 1970's cement seems harder than the granite it's bonded to.
We have windows, guttering, floorboards and rendering to replace. We will be very lucky if we finish by winter.
