The Allman Brothers pieced together their band at the tail end of the #sixties in 1969. They hail from the sunshine state in Jackson, Florida. Brothers Duane Allman and Gregg Allman were the driving force to make it happen. Lead guitarist Dickie Betts was also encouraged to get the band going.

Unfortunately for the band Duane Allman was killed in a motorcycle crash in 1971. What's strange about it in less than a year bass player Berry Oakley also died in a motorcycle crash only a few blocks away from where Duane died. Berry is noted as one of The 100 Greatest Bass Players of All Time by certain music publications.
