Born July 29, 1953, the legendary Geddy Lee turns 72 tomorrow! As the iconic bassist, vocalist, and synth maestro of Rush, Geddy redefined what a power trio could do—melodic basslines, soaring vocals, and keyboard wizardry all coming from one man.

From Rush’s groundbreaking albums (2112, A Farewell to Kings, Moving Pictures, Signals, Grace Under Pressure) to his critically acclaimed solo album My Favourite Headache, Geddy’s influence is immeasurable. An Officer of the Order of Canada and Rock & Roll Hall of Famer, he’s inspired generations—including Cliff Burton, Steve Harris, Les Claypool, and John Myung. He’s also the author of My Effin’ Life and producer of iconic Canadian supergroup The Big Dirty Band.

Happy Birthday to the architect of prog-rock’s pulse—Geddy Lee still leads the pack in innovation and groove.
