Dan Fogelberg was asked to be in the Eagles. He was close with Don Henley and Glenn Frey even having them sing on several of his own hits. but Dan Turned them down, wanting to blaze his solo career that included hits like Leader of the Band, Longer and Same Old Lang Syne which were all top 10 hits and made him one of the premiere singer songwriters of his time. The Eagles went on to dominate for decades becoming the biggest American band of all time.
