A man decided to stop and ask him what was wrong but the old man spoke an unfamiliar village dialogue so the man couldn't understand him. Just as he was about to leave the old man started crying. So he decided to stay with him until someone came to pick him up.
Soon a bald woman showed up, the woman is his daughter. She explained that he had just lost $100. Seeing her carrying so many medicine and his missing hand, the man realized that while $100 isn't a lot to some people, it must have meant a lot to them.
The woman looked very pale so while the old man went to continue searching for the $100 bill, the man had the chance to ask the woman some questions. 3 years ago, she was diagnosed with leukemia, she recovered but the disease came back again. Stronger this time. They have no money to let her stay in the hospital so she is currently trying to control the disease with medicine. The medicine isn't cheap.
Her father has been trying and failing to find her birth parents for a potential donor match however, so far, he hasn't been successful. The woman wants him to stop because she doesn't want to see her birth parents. In her mind, he'll always be her only father.
If they don't come up with the money soon, they would die. She is diagnosed too late unfortunately and doesn't have long to live. She has already comes to terms with the fact that she would most likely die however, she hopes her father would die before her. She wants to held on, to keep living. Until he dies. She can't bear to think about how much pain he would be in without her.
He doesn't know how to use a smart phone so he still use an old dial phone from the early 2000s. Even then, he didn't know how to type using the phone. He spent a couple hours at a neighbors so they could teach him how to type just so he could type "keep going!" to her.
He had raised her by farming and by cutting woods to sell. And spent every penny he had to save her when she came down with a sickness. It's clear how much he loves her even though he's not her biological father.
The man ended up using his own money and pretended that he found it for him. The old man said thank you but the woman seemed to know that the money actually came from the man. Before they said goodbye, the man had gotten the woman's contact and later sent her $1000. It was no doubt a nice surprise.
Let's hope that she will come up with enough money for her treatment. So she can have more time with her loving father.
