This isn’t the most glamorous start to my new château life… and that’s putting it mildly. In this episode, the fairytale gets real: the boiler is spewing black smoke, the toilets are terrifying, and the grime is older than I am. It’s Sunday in rural France, which means everything’s closed… except a pizza vending machine. (Honestly? Not terrible.)Then the Cavalry arrives, my friends from Australia and Denmark that I met at Chateau de Lalande a few years back. They are coming to help me get La Chevronnais ready to occupy. Whew!
We end the rainy night sipping champagne from paper cups in a parking lot. Yep that's how I roll!
