- (Patreon) Formed in the vibrant underworld of 1987, Tzameti emerged as a fictional band to be reckoned with in Tbilisi, Georgia, blending the cinematic sounds of vintage funk, psychedelic rock and kung fu-inspired rhythms into a single sonic experience.

Hailing from the vibrant urban landscape of Tbilisi, the founding members – guitarist Giorgi, bassist Lasha, drummer Nino and keyboardist Tamara – were drawn together by a shared passion for the gritty aesthetics and suspenseful narratives of 1970s crime films, Italian film scores and the rhythmic intricacies of jazz fusion.

Their 1989 debut album, Psychedelic Crimes, was a 10-track journey through a neon-tinged underworld where funky basslines, wah-wah-tinged guitar riffs and syncopated drum patterns collided with the atmospheric tension of cinematic strings and the analog warmth of vintage synthesizers. From the high-energy opening track, “Neon Ninja Showdown,” to the mysterious, bass-heavy grooves of “Transcendental Tornado Kicks,” the album established Tzameti as masters of a unique, narrative-driven brand of psychedelic funk.

The band has continued to develop and evolve their sonic signature over the decades, incorporating elements of spy-movie vibes, urban grit, and retro-futuristic experimentation. With each album, Tzameti has pushed the boundaries of the cinematic funk genre, captivating audiences with their bold instrumentation, intricate rhythms, and unwavering commitment to energetic, groove-heavy sounds that transport the listener into a world of their own creation.
