We show all the details on how to install it, along with all the parts needed for a state-of-the-art dual battery system that's affordable and easy to install. By doing the install on your own and saving money where you can, you can have a super reliable power source for your automotive fridge, camping lights, whatever makes your overlanding experience pleasurable.
In the video we show the cost of the materials, (as of 3/13/2021), as well as provide links to them below. The overland power system we show costs less than a typical dual battery kit.
The DC-DC charger we use is a CTEK D250SE. In the video we show how to make all the wire connections and how we mounted it. We also explain why a dc-dc charger is best for charging an AGM battery like our Optima DH6 Yellow Top.
We installed ours in a Toyota FJ Cruiser, but this DIY auxiliary battery system can be adapted to fit just about any SUV, Jeep, Subaru, or pickup truck.
