In loving memory of my mom, Patricia Ann Boswell.

Patricia Ann Murrie Boswell, 88, originally from Vienna, Illinois, died at 11:45 a.m. Monday, January 19, 2015 in the comfort and tranquility of her home in Shelbyville,Illinois. She was surrounded by those who loved her dearly.

Born December 29, 1926, in Wood River, Illinois, Patricia was the elder daughter of Loren Stanley and Hazel Irene Slack Murrie, who owned the Murrie Funeral Home in Vienna. She graduated from Ward-Belmont Boarding School in Nashville, Tennessee, followed by Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. She married Dr. John Ronald Boswell in 1951 in Vienna.

Patricia led an active, full life and participated in countless community service clubs and organizations. As an aficionado of the classical arts and music, Patricia became an accomplished interior decorator, artist and school teacher. While residing in Atlanta, Georgia, she mastered the exquisite art of china painting. Lending her business acumen and artistic skills, Patricia owned “A Gallery of Treasurers,” an antiques, fine rugs and interior design store in the heart of Atlanta, which led her and her husband to purchase a beloved antebellum home open to the public for house tours. She also was an avid gardener and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Shelbyville.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years; son, John David Boswell of Los Angeles, California; granddaughter, Julie Patricia Brown of Nashua, New Hampshire; sister, Rebecca Jane Wiley, and brother-in-law, Nelson Wiley, of Shelbyville, IL; and nephews, Mark Walbright and David Walbright, both of Shelbyville and their beautiful, extended families.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Rebecca Lou “Mimi” Brown, and grandson, Robert Brown, Jr., both of whom resided in Antrim, New Hampshire.
