Trainer Charlie Appleby, jockey William Buick and owners Godolphin won the British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes at Sandown Park a few years ago with subsequent top-class juvenile and Classic scorer Native trail, and they might have just unleashed another good on here.

Priced up as 4/7F, Dubawi colt Saba Desert was clearly fancied to make a winning debut and he did cosily despite a narrow-enough winning margin, being nudged home by Buick in an educative first outing and one that hints at plenty more to come in the near future.

The jockey was notably effusive in his praise of this exciting two-year-old in conversation with Racing TV's James Millman, with no doubt some decent juvenile races on the agenda in the coming months for this nice prospect.
