Why You Don't See This African Country on Many Maps! #shorts

Transcript: Ever wondered why there's an African country missing on most of the maps, even today? Well, that's Western Sahara. To figure out why it's always gray on maps, let's rewind to the late 19th century. Back then, Europe had basically claimed all of Africa. During that time, Western Sahara was called the Spanish Sahara, as it was Spain's colony. Fast forward nearly a century, and it's still not independent, unlike other African colonies. When Spain left, the people there, the Sahrawi, declared their own country, the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic. But then, Morocco swooped in and took control of most of it. That's why over 80% of Western Sahara is under Morocco's rule. Because of these disputes, most modern maps show it as gray.
