Do not, under any circumstances, ever, in any conditions or situations, at any point, ever…Be honest about which of the Balkan countries is your favorite. UNLESS… you’re in that country.
Yeah so as someone who’s not from the Balkan, but has traveled to every country there many times, I have found this to be an amazing travel hack to not get murdered!
I wouldn’t say I had to find out the hard way, I managed to talk my way out of it one time by saying “Oh no but to live in I would choose your country”. That kind of saved me, but I could tell I was playing a dangerous game.
For starters, the Balkan is one of those particular regions in Europe, with a very particular people and history. They all hate each other, but also in a weird way love each other. Especially when they meet each other in other countries.
However, when it comes to patriotism, do not challenge them. Also, do not feed them, do not look them in the eyes, when one is in your house, just stay calm and alert the authorities.
Hahahaha alright alright, I’ll be serious for a second. No, they won’t kill you. Yes, they have a rivalry, but as an outsider I haven’t had a bad experience in any of the Balkan countries. All of them are incredibly hospitable, kind, and safe to travelers!
But, I’d still save this reel and remember the tip I gave you.
