To disable Windows Defender in Windows 10 permanently, here are the 3 methods you can give it a try.

[00:32]Disable using Windows Security
[01:16] Using Group Policy
[03:13] Help of Registry
[05:20] Conclusion

The first method to disable Windows defender antivirus is by using Windows security. If you need to disable the default antivirus on Windows 10 temporarily, you can choose this method.
1. First, go to Settings then Update & Security then here choose Windows Security
2. Choose ‘Virus & Threat protection’ and here choose ‘Manage settings’
3. You can disable Windows defender temporarily by turning off the ‘Real-time protection’ toggle switch.
Please note that this is a temporary change to perform a specific task and the real-time protection will turn back on automatically in a short time.

The second method to stop Windows defender is by using Group policy. Only the users of Windows 10 Pro can have access to group policy. If you don’t have access to group policy then check the method 3.

1. To change the settings, you first need to turn off the real-time protection of Windows defender. To do that, go to ‘Settings’ then ‘Update & Security’ then ‘Windows Security’ then ‘Virus & Threat protection’ then choose ‘Manage settings’.
2. Now just toggle the switch under Real-time protection to turn off the default antivirus in Windows 10 for a short time.
When you do this, you are able to edit the group policy of the antivirus. Now open Run by pressing Windows + R keys together then enter gpedit.msc which means we are editing the group policy.

Now navigate to this path
Computer Configuration then Administrative Templates then Windows Components then Windows Defender Antivirus
Now to the other side, find the policy named ‘Turn off Windows Defender Antivirus’ then right-click on it then choose ‘Edit’
Now choose ‘Enabled’ then click on Apply then Ok.
Close everything and restart the computer to permanently disable Windows defender on Windows 10. You may see the shield icon at the icons tray but that is the part of the Windows Security app, not from the antivirus.

The last method is by editing the Windows 10 registry.
This method comes handy when you don't have access to the Local Group Policy Editor, or you're running Windows 10 Home, you can still modify the Registry to disable the Windows Defender Antivirus permanently.
Before that, I highly suggest you to backup the registry. If you don’t know how, check this video:

Now to edit the registry, you first need to turn off the real-time protection of Windows defender. To do that, go to ‘Settings’ then ‘Update & Security’ then ‘Windows Security’ then ‘Virus & Threat protection’ then choose ‘Manage settings’.
Now just toggle the switch under Real-time protection to turn off the default antivirus in Windows 10 for a short time.

Now to disable Windows Defender Permanently using Registry, open the Run box by pressing Windows + R keys together and type regedit.

When you get the registry editor, navigate to this path
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE then SOFTWARE then Policies then Microsoft then Windows Defender
Here right-click on the Windows Defender folder, select New, and click on DWORD (32-bit) Value.
Name the key DisableAntiSpyware and press Enter.
Right click on the newly created DWORD then choose Edit and change the value from 0 to 1.
Now finally click Ok then restart the computer.

That’s it. From now on, Windows Defender Antivirus will no longer protect your system against malware.
