Tara Erickson & Aaron Alexander set sail once again for a swashbuckling YouTube Reaction & Review of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (2017), the fifth installment in Disney’s beloved pirate saga. Directed by Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, the film finds Captain Jack Sparrow down on his luck until he's thrust into another supernatural conflict—this time against the vengeful ghostly Captain Salazar and his deadly crew, who have escaped from the Devil’s Triangle with one mission: to kill every pirate at sea, especially Jack.
Johnny Depp (Edward Scissorhands, Fantastic Beasts) reprises his iconic role as the rum-soaked and cunning Captain Jack Sparrow. Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men, Skyfall) joins the franchise as the terrifying Captain Armando Salazar, whose black ooze and haunting undead ship leave a trail of dread across the seas. Brenton Thwaites (Titans, Gods of Egypt) stars as Henry Turner, son of Will and Elizabeth, seeking to free his father from the Flying Dutchman’s curse. Kaya Scodelario (The Maze Runner, Crawl) plays Carina Smyth, a brilliant and headstrong astronomer with a mysterious past. Returning favorites include Geoffrey Rush (Shine, The King's Speech) as Captain Hector Barbossa, and Orlando Bloom (The Lord of the Rings, Troy) and Keira Knightley (Pride & Prejudice, Love Actually) in memorable appearances as Will and Elizabeth Turner.
Notable moments include the jaw-dropping execution escape scene in Saint Martin, the visually stunning undead shark attack, Salazar’s eerie flashback origin story, and the emotional family reunion that ties together the saga’s legacy. With dazzling visuals, magical relics like the Trident of Poseidon, and callbacks to the original trilogy, Dead Men Tell No Tales delivers a mix of nostalgia, action, and fantasy that continues the high-seas legend of Jack Sparrow.
