In this video I am reflecting on a week listening to vinyl records discussing what has been the major things I have learnt so far, the big lessons for record playing sound quality. Only four months ago I got my first ever turntable setup to start a vinyl journey literally from the very beginning with no previous ownership experience so I have a huge amount to learn. I hope that it will be an interesting journey to document so others can learn from my mistakes and you the viewer can advise and help me move forward.

The turntable I have started with is the AVID HIFI Ingenium Plug & Play

Firstly the importance of the phono stage has really been shown to me, for technical reasons and sound quality. The second big lesson is the importance of system synergy because if you put the right HiFi components together its possible to achieve sound greater than the sum of the system parts. The last lesson is despite the obvious hate for the cartridge on this turntable, it can sound great, really great actually, but of course not perfect.
