Eastern Cape Premier Oscar Mabuyane says strategic plans are being implemented to create inclusive growth and jobs, reduce poverty and tackle the high cost of living.He delivered the State of the Province Address for the seventh administration in Bhisho today.
He says nearly a million jobs will be created by the year 2030.
That's despite the province's 49.7% unemployment rate in the second quarter of 2024.
Mabuyane further said 70 million Rand has been set aside to settle student debts.
He says the provincial executive has made significant strides to supply free internet to schools, libraries and health facilities as part of the rural development programme.
Mabuyane also paid tribute to South African National Defence Force soldier Sergeant William Eddy Cola, who was among 14 soldiers killed in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
