It was an ordinary Thursday when Principal William's voice crackled over the intercom during third period.

"Attention all female students, report to the gymnasium immediately. Male students and teachers will remain in classrooms."

Girls exchanged confused glances as we gathered our things in the hallway. Female teachers looked just as bewildered as they directed us toward the gym. Something about their tight expressions sent a chill through me.

My friend Ila grabbed my arm. "What's happening?" she whispered.

I watched as hundreds of girls streamed into the gymnasium. When the doors closed behind us, female police officers lined the walls. The school nurse stood near a table stacked with small paper cups.

Principal Williams approached the microphone, flanked by two women in suits.

"Ladies, I apologize for the disruption," she began, her voice shaky. "Yesterday evening, we received information that requires immediate action."

She gestured to the women beside her. "These are Detectives Ramirez and Chen from the Special Victim's Unit."

The gym went silent.

"Three hours ago, we discovered hidden cameras in the girls locker rooms and bathrooms throughout the school."

Gasps erupted around me. My stomach dropped as she continued.

"The cameras appear to have been installed within the last month. We don't yet know how much footage was captured or where it may have been distributed."

Girls began frantically texting, only to have the detective take the microphone.

"Please stop using your phones. We have reason to believe the footage was being live-streamed through the school's Wi-Fi. Using the network could compromise evidence."

Panic spread through the crowd.

"We need to collect samples from the cups on the table. It's a simple cheek swab that will help us identify any DNA left on the cameras."

As we lined up, rumors spread like wildfire. Who had done this? How long had we been watched?

When I reached the front, Detective Chen checked my name against a list, then pulled me aside.

"You're on a different list," she said quietly, leading me to a separate room where about 20 other girls waited.

Detective Ramirez closed the door.

"I'm sorry, but your names were found on a separate file. Your images were specifically being targeted and sold on private forums."

The room spun around me. Targeted? Sold? Why us?

Then I realized the only thing connecting everyone in this room was that we'd all been to the Student Council Vice President's pool parties this summer.

The next announcement came three hours later. Principal Williams approached the microphone looking ten years older.

"Students, the investigation has identified those responsible for installing the cameras."

She paused, struggling.

"We've taken into custody Mr. Phillips, our technology coordinator."

Shocked murmurs rippled through the crowd. And her voice broke.

"Jason Williams — my son — who is the Student Body Vice President."

The gym erupted in chaos.

Jason Williams. The popular senior who organized school events. Who had access to every part of the building. Whose mother's keys could open any door.

The boy whose pool parties I'd attended.
