There are few racehorses like Hamish, who aged 9 still retains all his character and enthusiasm for the game.Assistant trainer Maureen Haggas - who rides Hamish every day - says he apparently squashed a car earlier this week when she was away for the day and the soft-ground specialist has certainly been hankering for a run after such a dry spell of weather for the last few months.
He was up to his usual tracks on his belated seasonal return at Goodwood, but he was typically strong and game at the finish to land the Listed BetGoodwin Tapster Stakes and take his career record to a remarkable 13 wins from 25 starts for trainer William Haggas.
