Tik Tok also known as 抖音 (Douyin) in China is a social media app much like Vine. RIP. The top videos on Tik Tok are often dance challenges – people take popular songs and make up a dance challenge or they follow a dance. Millions upon millions of views and likes.

When I was in China this year, TikTok was literally everywhere I looked. Basically everyone on the subway train was scrolling on it. My conversations with friends often referenced memes and funny videos we saw on Douyin. I've never seen anything like it.
