Student protesters under the banner of Nirapad Sarak Andolan on Friday staged demonstration in Kurmitola area in Bangladesh capital Dhaka to press home their demand for safe roads across the country. They brought out a procession in the area to mark the fourth anniversary of the death of two students of Shaheed Ramij Uddin Cantonment College, Abdul Karim Rajib and Dia Khanam Mim, at Kurmitola in Dhaka in on July 29, 2018. Some of the road safety activists took part in the procession wearing shrouds symbolising deaths on the roads. They also erected a memorial at Kurmitola where Rajib and Mim were killed in a road accident.
During their protest they placed their nine demands including ensuring safe roads, stopping deaths in road accidents and bringing order in road transport sector. Following the death of the two students, students across Bangladesh came to the streets and protested for safe road in the country for over a week.
