Jake the rattlesnake coils menacingly around Rango, his fangs hovering just millimeters from the lizard’s throat: “Tell me, hero… how’s the taste of glory?” Rango opens his mouth to speak, but Jake’s forked tongue flicks across his parched lips. Terrified townsfolk huddle behind broken planks, watching as Jake snares Beans with his rattling tail, scales scraping her delicate porcelain-like shell: “Your so-called savior can’t even swallow his own lies!”

Jake then flings a revolver onto the dusty ground—six bullets clatter out, leaving just one in the chamber. “That many bullets to take me down?” he hisses. Rango’s slimy grip trembles on the trigger, the sheriff’s star on his vest fading under the scorching sun. In a flash, Jake’s tail snags the gun away: “Next time I see that scaly hide…” he sneers, sinking his fangs into Rango’s straw hat, venom dissolving the brim, “…I’ll personally show you the temperature of hell.”
