I have described Bettye's voice many times as "grits and soul". She has a choked up pleading pained quality that melts my heart and gives me goosebumps. I consider her to be the pinnacle of my artistic output. This song was co-written with ex Motown artist Jake Jacas, and remixed by the late Clive Scott around twenty years ago. Kev Roberts pressed it as a white label promo copy on the Detroit label in 2006, but never actually got around to releasing it, which makes it seriously hard to find a copy. I would do anything to work with her again. She represents my finest hour.
