In this lecture, Eric Hoek overviews past and ongoing food-energy-water nexus research in the UCLA Nanomaterials, Membrane & Electrochemical Technologies Research (NanoMETeR) Lab, including a few attempts to translate basic research discoveries into commercial innovations.

Additionally, Eric presents results on a new class of fully thermoset reverse osmosis (RO) membrane materials designed to operate at extreme temperatures and pressures.

Dr. Eric Hoek is an environmental engineering professor in UCLA’s Samueli School of Engineering and a faculty scientist in the Energy Storage and Distributed Resources Division at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab.

This lecture was a part of Oregon State University's College of Engineering Clean Water Showcase in May 2024.
